Hi, I’m Sarah Vulture. I am an artist based in Southern California.

My work explores the complexities of death, grief, and transformation through representational paintings in acrylic, colored pencil or watercolor. Rooted in personal experiences of early childhood loss, I investigate how private grief intersects with collective trauma. I am currently exploring the lingering psychological effects of war and the unseen aftermath carried by soldiers of world war I and world war II.

The birds within my work are symbolic of both fragility and transcendence. Nests emerge as unstable sanctuaries, mirroring the impermanence of safety and home. Eggs symbolize rebirth and the potential for healing. Through these recurring motifs, I seek to visualize the tension between mourning and renewal, absence and resilience.

Each painting functions as a meditation on the cycles of life and death, inviting viewers into a space of contemplation and catharsis. My intent is not only to confront loss but to reveal it as an opportunity for rebirth and transformation. Through my paintings, I hope to find beauty in what continues to grow from decay.
